How Does Assessment Prepare our Students for College?

With significant changes occurring throughout higher education, increasing pressures to ensure student achievement, and various constituencies demanding change, schools may find themselves challenged to hold true to their missions while remaining relevant and stable.  This presentation will discuss how colleges are using assessment to address critical issues and highlight and underscore the meaning and integrity of the degrees they offer.  Institutional examples will illustrate not only how colleges measure important outcomes like civic engagement, moral and ethical development, and lifelong learning,  but will also discuss how K-12 education is a valuable and imperative partner in documenting progressively challenging performance expectations for all students, and in making sure a degree means more than time spent in class.
